POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction and supervision of the Center/Program Manager, the Geriatric Aide provides personal care services to On Lok participants in the Day Health Center and/or in the participant’s home.

DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provides personal care/escort assistance according to the individual treatment plan (i.e. grooming, dressing, peri-care, showers, bathing, toileting, housekeeping, meal preparation/feeding, laundry, shopping) and reports observed changes in the participant’s condition.
  • Demonstrates safe practices, by utilizing proper body mechanics, adhering to universal precautions, and maintaining environmental safety.
  • Interacts and provides services to participants, families and team members in a professional manner (i.e. encourage participation in conversation and activities). Communicates observations to team members.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, abilities)

  • Demonstrates interest, ability, and/or experience in working with the elderly.
  • HHA or CNA license preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of interdisciplinary team.
  • Bilingual ability may be required for specific assignments.
  • Physical activities require the ability to stoop, reach, stand, walk, push, pull, lift, grasp, talk, hear, and repetitive motion of the wrist and hands.
  • Physical requirement: visual acuity and the ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs occasionally and up to 50 lbs frequently.
  • Must be flexible to work assigned shifts in center and/or private homes.
